New Castle, PA – September 29, 2022—The Lawrence County Recorder of Deeds Office recently announced the launch of GovOS Property Alert, a digital solution that safeguards citizens against property record fraud. Register and Recorder, Tammy R. Crawford and her staff are excited to offer this new service free of charge to all Lawrence County property owners starting October 1, 2022.

While property fraud is a rare occurrence in Lawrence County, the Recorder of Deeds Office is taking proactive steps to protect property owners, many of whom have requested this service. Property Alert is a software-based monitoring tool that allows constituents to create profiles to be alerted when any document–such as mortgage, deed or mortgage satisfaction–related to a specific parcel is recorded under the parcel ID or property owner’s name.

Once property owners register in the system, they will be automatically notified by email when a document associated with the property is recorded by the Lawrence County Recorder of Deeds. The email will include the matched date, document type, document reference number, recording date/time of the matching document and a link to the document. The document will be viewable on the Lawrence County PA Recorder of Deeds Search page.

Property owners can sign up for alerts by visiting lawrence.pa.publicsearch.us/ on or after October 1 and clicking on the Property Alert option at the top of the screen. After users enter the name and property information to create an alert, they will receive a confirmation email and a notification any time a document is filed that matches the information in their profile. Property owners have the option to turn off profiles at any time.

Please note that an alert does not automatically indicate fraudulent activity has occurred. The Property Alert system notifies property owners of ANY activity that has occurred on the property. It is the property owner’s responsibility to monitor alerts and take action if the activity appears fraudulent.

For questions or to report suspicious activity, property owners should call the Lawrence County Recorder of Deeds Office at (724) 656-2128.
