Bexar County is a very unique county. We are the 4th largest county in the state of Texas. We are a very diverse community. We oversee 27 cities, so it has a lot of rich history. The project can tell a lot of the Spanish colonial history, pre-Republic of Texas. We had a lot of our records from 1836 to 1964 that were indexed. They had to be digitized. They had to be preserved. And you’re talking about thousands and thousands of documents that they’re going through. And then you have to consider the fact of the science that goes into it. And then you have the scanning project. And that’s why we hire experts and GovOS. So thanks to them. They’ve really put a lot of effort, and it’s been an amazing result, and the public’s gonna really benefit from it.

How much GovOS took into consideration on everything we needed once they were digitized and put online for the public to have access to these records. So once the records were preserved and getting them digitized with GovOS, people don’t have to come to Bexar County anymore. Now that we’ve partnered up with GovOS, they can research all this collection from anywhere across the United States, even from other countries. It’s actually given more public record access to our community.

A lot of our people within county government are trying to search for documents, not only for the public, for our employees as well, but also for our colleagues, where it’s easier to manage, it’s user friendly. It’s a quick way to just utilize your phone, utilize your laptop. In the benefit of your own home, you can search anything you like about the Spanish archive. So if you want to search for county records, it’s so easy and convenient because you can get these records for free from the comfort of your own home. This means a lot to the county.

So a lot of these records will educate us in modern ways of addressing things and taking care of things and every County Clerk has beautiful history to educate our community. So it really means a lot to us to make sure that the community is able to see the true history of what took place place in everybody’s individual county.
