The Kent County News shared that Kent County, MD has selected the GovOS STR solution to enhance tax revenue by helping collect the county’s 5% lodging tax on STRs. Sparked by community input, this initiative addresses the challenge of tracking STRs across multiple platforms—an effort that was previously hindered by the voluntary nature of reporting and the complexity of existing systems.

GovOS was selected after a detailed evaluation of competing systems. The STR solution will identify rentals, manage communications, and handle tax collection to ensure compliance. Kent County expects the software to pay for itself once it is operational through increased tax collections. With a target go-live date of July 1, this move also involves updating local codes and establishing uniform regulations across municipalities. The GovOS STR solution will empower Kent County to streamline operations for owners and county staff and boost local revenue, reflecting a strategic approach to modernizing tax collection and regulatory compliance in the evolving rental landscape.
